When I think of compassion, I always remember that it is made up of two things: a loving heart and a helping hand. If I only have one or the other, my feelings or deeds will not be impactful, for both are mandatory. A heart of flesh is a light from above, piercing the darkness. A helping hand, though not necessarily extended to feed the starving, may be changing a life none the less. If a brother or sister is without clothing and is in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, and yes you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? (James 2:15-16)
