It was the hot blistering summer of 2007 and I was just eight years old. I was getting really excited about the big move to Minneapolis. Being the month before the moveI was already starting to miss my friends.My mom surprised me by letting me have a sleepover with four other girls by the names ofCamryn Howard, Brittany Kitzinger, Danielle VanHeuklon, and Callie Pholman. We had a great night. We played board games, went outside, and passed the football around a little bit. The funny part is, is that we moved to Minneapolis (as planned), Stayed in Minneapolis for a year, and I decided I wanted to move back to Appleton. I missed my friends, and I wanted to be back at home where I belonged. My mom showed me compassion by understanding my feelings and just going along with whatever I wanted to, even though it put her through some heartbreak too.
